2018 has been the year of fresh starts for us as a family and also on a personal level. After a traumatic experience returning from my maternity leave and taking a much needed sabbatical, I am ready to give it another go.
I have been going back and forth in my head about my decision. Walking away from a traumatic working experience was a tough decision, but in the end, I had to preserve what was left of my dignity and of my sanity. Being a good role model for my daughter means making tough decisions like that. I had to accept that I had done the best I could and walk away.
I am embracing ‘me’ again and everything I have done to get this far. Which is why I decided to go back working full time on my own terms.
The past few months, Lila has grown into a “proper” little person and I am so happy that we had so many beautiful memories as a family together. In continuing to document Lila’s childhood for our family and friends, I am hoping to capture many more precious milestones and little moments.
My goals for 2018 are to grow as a writer. I’m reading Brenne Brown’s “Daring Greatly” and I think I want to open up more on my blog. Being vulnerable is something I have really struggled with in 2017. When I became a mum, I found it good to talk to other people about the ups and downs. I’m doing so, I quickly realised there was a whole a community of mums and dads out there, who were going through the same thing as us. I want to keep the conversation going and keep honing my voice as a writer.
What are your goals for 2018?
